Grade 2 learns about author/illustrator Leo Lionni

March 21, 2016
Grade 2 classes have been learning about the author and illustrator Leo Lionni. Today 2B listened to the story, “Inch by Inch” and practiced their measuring skills while being creative by drawing animals. Leo Lionni was born in Holland, and like many of our students was an international person who lived in the United States and Italy and spoke several languages. He was a graphic artist by profession and didn’t become an author and illustrator until he was a grandfather. His first book, Little Blue and Little Yellow, was conceived on a long train ride to amuse his grandchildren. He published over 40 books in his lifetime, and the TIS Library has many of his titles available for check-out.
