Euphemism

1. Each week, the 7th and 8th graders get learn a new SAT Prep word.  Now you can participate, too:

a. Come up with what YOU think the definition of the word is.

b. See Ms. Dean for the correct definition of the word.

Noun:  to say something rude in a polite way.

EX:  When someone says “you look tired today”, they are really using a euphemism. They mean to say “you should go home and try again”.  

Adverb: When the article said rebels were “eliminating” their opposition in the region, they were speaking euphemistically
