TIS Students Participate in Charity Fundraising Event

For more than 15 years, Teda International School (TIS) has worked to help its students develop their sense of responsibility not only in the classroom but in the wider community as well. Over the years, TIS students have contributed time and money to many local charities including Shine Home, the TEDA Cardiovascular Hospital, the Tanggu Senior Citizens Home, Habitat for Humanity and others. In support of those efforts, TIS has been holding an annual Walkathon Fundraiser for a number of years. During this event, students solicit pledges from teachers, friends and family for each lap that they run or walk. After the event, students collect on these pledges and the money is donated to one or more local causes.

This year, as a result of the outstanding efforts of the entire TIS community during the September 30th Walkathon Fundraiser, Teda International School is proud to be making a contribution of RMB 20,000 to the TEDA Volunteers’ Association (TVA). The TEDA Volunteers’ Association is currently directing service initiatives across China which benefit the elderly, those battling illness, children in need of education, and many others. Given Teda International School’s commitment to teaching students at all grade levels about the importance of community service, volunteerism, and helping those less fortunate, a donation to the TEDA Volunteers’ Association seemed highly appropriate.
