Coding With Osmo

Members of Coding 101 have been experimenting with an exciting new ICT resource called OSMO. It uses a base and a mirror over the iPad camera so that the table in front of the iPad becomes a playing field. It has a collection of apps for iPads across subject areas such as ‘Words’, ‘Numbers’, Tangrams’, ‘Coding Jam’, ‘Coding Awbie’, etc.

Coding Awbie introduces the foundational skills of programming as kids join Awbie on a strawberry-munching adventure. It teaches both computational thinking and logical reasoning as students do simple programming to complete the challenges. Students thought this was great and some of them described it as ‘magical’, ‘awesome’, and ‘fun’.
