TEDA IS at “Kids Read 2019”

The main goals of “KIDS READ” are to foster a love of reading; to encourage young people to explore all genres of literature; and to broaden their range of authors from around the world. The focus of this book trivia battle is children’s literature – from nursery rhymes and picture books, classic children’s titles to contemporary titles that are suitable for and interesting to 11 to 14 year olds.

Although “KIDS READ” is a competitive activity, which culminated at the International School of Beijing last February 21-22, the focus is on the students’ individual journey and discovery of literature. Ten TIS middle school students, accompanied by coaches Ms. Dean, Mr. Ricky, and Ms. Jessica, showed grit and determination as they competed against their peers from eight other international schools in China. The TEDA students really showcased their knowledge of book trivia by answering 110 questions from a list of 100 books!

This year’s TEDA IS competing team includes 7th graders Mark, Andrew, Abed, and Richard; 8th graders Thomas, Sharon, Gladys, Becky, Kyeong Hyeon, and Justin. They all did an outstanding job!

A special thank you to all the parents, TIS teachers, and administrators who made this celebration of learning possible!
