Some Projects in Term 3 Chinese Classes

Using projects to help learning is a dynamic approach to teaching that allows students to explore more and gain deeper understanding. In Term 3 Chinese classes, teachers and students created projects to facilitate language learning to improve their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.

Making Pandas in Ms. Eva and Ms. Cathy Class

Giant pandas (大熊猫) are symbolic animals that are native to south central China in Sichuan, Shanxi, and Gansu provinces. In order to get to know the habitat of pandas better, in Ms. Eva and Ms. Cathy’s Elective Chinese Class, students made pandas with clay.

Project about Chinese Characters in Ms. Zhang Yuyan’s Class

Chinese characters are the unique written language form of China. Grade 6 students learned interesting stories about the chinese character and the evolution process of Chinese character. They also made the seal cutting by themselves, enjoying the art of seal cutting. The students learned about Confucius and Confucianism through making posters and wrote sentences from The Analects of Confucius.

Our School Miniature and City Planning in Mr. Gao’s Class

Grade 2 and Grade 3 students learnt about how to describe school facilities and locations. They engaged themselves in making our school miniature and actively talked about the location of each classroom and building in our campus. In the following unit, they learnt about city facilities and how to ask directions. They designed their own city map to facilitate language skills.

Four Seasons Poster in Ms. Sue’s Class

In Kindergarten, Ms. Sue’s students learnt about the four seasons and how different each season is in terms of temperature, weather and greenery. In order to facilitate the language skills of identifying and describing differences through visual and oral presentation, Ms. Sue and the students made posters to illustrate the four seasons.
